Indeed, thanks for the hint. Done. Please remind me to remove NewHackMacro from the list once the switch to Trac 0.11 is done ;-) - the functionality of that macro will then be handled by TracHacksPlugin (in a much more comfortable way than it is now, by the way).

Thanks, I'll have to take a closer look at the TracHacksPlugin. It appears to allow variables to be passed from the form to the NewHackTemplate, which I would like to do in another plugin. I haven't seen this done elsewhere, so perhaps it is a good example to follow in implementing this behavior?
